Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes shared an adorable moment with his daughter, Sterling, ahead of his team’s face off against the New Orleans Saints
Patrick Mahomes gave an adorable shoutout to his 3-year-old daughter, Sterling, ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs’ “Monday Night Football” matchup with the New Orleans Saints.
Prior to kickoff, Mahomes met with ESPN’s Lisa Salters to discuss the Chiefs’ strong start to the season and the looming game against the Saints. As the interview drew to a close, the star quarterback issued a message to one of his biggest fans watching at home.
“I wanted to tell my daughter Sterling, ‘Hey.’ Hey Sterling, go to bed,” he said before letting out a chuckle.
Taking to social media, fans shared their thoughts on the heartwarming moment. “That’s honestly really wholesome,” one X user wrote, with another adding: “That’s too cute! Family first for Mahomes!”

“I’m going to teach my son, my daughter all the fundamentals and whatever they want to learn. But at the same time, I want to let it be about them,” he said during an episode of Football in America. “That’s what my dad did growing up, that’s what my parents did. They didn’t pressure me to do anything. I think that’s why I’m in the position I am today.”
It appears as though one of Mahomes’ kids has already taken an interest in football. As he and the Chiefs faced off against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, Sterling cheered her father on from the stands alongside Brittany and Bronze.
“[Sterling] loves to watch her dad play football. She can see him from a mile away and pays attention and keeps up with what’s going on with him,” Brittany told PEOPLE in January.
After winning his third Vince Lombardi Trophy, Mahomes cherished the opportunity to spend quality time with his family over the offseason. “The season was amazing,” he told ‘CBS Mornings.’ “But being a dad now, too, and getting to enjoy that in the off-season, I think that’s been the best part.
“Being able to go home and see my daughter and see my son, I have a better understanding of being present and enjoying it. That translates to the football field,” he added. “And we’ve been on a heck of a run. But I’m trying to enjoy those moments, ’cause I know it doesn’t last forever, even though we want it to.”
