A mother accused of hanging her two children with dog leashes has been found guilty of the horrific murders.

Lisa Snyder, 41, was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder of her two young children who were discovered hanging in their home’s basement five years ago. Brinley, four, and Conner, eight, were taken off life support three days after being found in their Albany Township home, located about 60 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

This conviction carries an automatic sentence of life imprisonment without parole. Snyder had initially told police that her son was a victim of bullying and had threatened to take his own life. However, authorities found no evidence to back up her claims.

School bus security footage from the day of the incident showed no signs of distress from the boy. An occupational therapist later testified that the child wasn’t physically capable of causing such harm to himself or his younger sister.

The prosecution also pointed out Snyder’s online search history, which included queries about suicide, death by hanging, how to kill someone and episodes of a crime documentary series titled I Almost Got Away With It.

The coroner confirmed that both children died from hanging and classified their deaths as homicides.

Despite the overwhelming evidence, the defense argued for acquittal, claiming the case was based on speculation and “guesswork.”

Snyder opted for a judge instead of a jury to hear the case. After deliberating for an hour on Tuesday, Berks County Court of Common Pleas President Judge Theresa Johnson found Snyder guilty.

The convictions included child endangerment and tampering with evidence. The court has set the sentencing date for October 17.

Previously, Snyder attempted to enter a no contest but mentally ill plea to two counts of third-degree murder. However, Judge Johnson dismissed the plea deal last year, stating it did not “serve the interests of justice.”
