Perry Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau Farrell, is providing an update on her husband following his onstage altercation with guitarist Dave Navarro during a Jane’s Addiction concert.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, September 21, Etty revealed that Perry, 65, is taking time to “reflect and heal” while consulting an otolaryngologist and neurologist after the band’s tour was canceled due to his public outburst towards Navarro, 57, on September 13.
Expressing gratitude for the support they’ve received, Etty thanked fans for “checking in over and over again” and offering love, compassion, and even their homes for them to escape to.
She described Perry as “the gentlest of souls” and acknowledged their shared astonishment at his physical outburst. “You must know that Perry must have been pushed to his absolute limit … to that end, we apologize,” Etty Lau said.
The update on Perry’s condition follows his wife’s social media post on September 14, where she revealed that he had been “suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night” while performing on tour.
In a separate statement, Jane’s Addiction issued a “heartfelt apology” to fans shortly after the incident.
Announcing the early end of their tour, the band wrote, “To all the fans, we have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group. As such, we will be canceling the remainder of the tour.” Notably, Perry was not directly acknowledged in the message.
Perry, for his part, issued an apology for his outburst in a statement on his Instagram Stories.
“This weekend has been incredibly difficult, and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, as well as to my fans, family, and friends for my actions during Friday’s show,” he wrote.
“Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation,” Perry continued.
