Prince William, who is in South Africa ahead of the 2024 Earshot Prize Awards ceremony, was spotted wearing an unusual piece of jewelry for a Royal: a friendship bracelet.
The Prince of Wales and father of three was photographed wearing the friendship bracelet, which spelled out ‘Papa’ in black and white letter beads, which he explained was a gift from his daughter, Princess Charlotte.
The piece of jewelry symbolizes his special connection with his daughter and their shared love of Taylor Swift, whose fans participate in bracelet swaps at her Eras Tour concerts. Prince William lovingly promised his daughter that he would wear it while he was away.

On June 21st, his 42nd birthday, Prince William took his two eldest children, Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 9 to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour show in London.
The father-daughter duo were spotted dancing in the stands to “Shake It Off” and even went backstage to snap a selfie with Swift after the show.
When asked about the blue and green beaded accessory, he explained: “Well, this is a relic, if you like, from a Taylor Swift concert that my daughter decided that she wanted to create a bracelet for.”
During the Eras Tour, Swifties started making and swapping friendship bracelets made of string and letter beads that spell out different song lyrics, phrases, and album titles. The idea is thought to have originated from the lyrics to the song You’re on Your Own, Kid from her album Midnights: “So, make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it.”
The proud papa went on to say, “She gave it to me when I came away. So I promised that I’d wear it and try not to lose while I was out here.”
