Quincy Jones’ cause of death has been revealed to be pancreatic cancer.
The iconic music producer died at the age of 91 last week at his home in Bel-Air, California. TMZ obtained Quincy’s death certificate from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health – which stated that his official cause of death was pancreatic cancer with no other contributing factors.
Quincy was laid to rest on Monday of this week in an “intimate ceremony.” A statement given by the family shared that the funeral “included Mr. Jones seven children, his brother, two sisters, and immediate family members.”
“[We are] enormously grateful for the outpouring of condolences and tributes from his friends and fans from around the world,” the statement read, “Details for a memorial celebration of Mr. Jones life will be announced at a later date.”
Quincy worked with some of the biggest stars in music for over 70 years. From Frank Sinatra to Michael Jackson, the producer had a hand in creating timeless music.
One of Quincy’s children, Parks and Recreation actress Rashida Jones, took to social media to share a statement after her father’s death. “My dad was nocturnal his whole adult life. He kept ‘jazz hours’ starting in high school and never looked back. When I was little, I would wake up in the middle of the night to search for him,” she wrote.
“Undoubtedly, he would be somewhere in the house, composing (old school, with a pen and sheet music). He would never send me back to bed. He would smile and bring me into his arms while he continued to work…there was no safer place in the world for me. He was a giant. An icon. A culture shifter. A genius.,” she continued.
Rashida added: “All accurate descriptions of my father but his music (and ALL of his work) was a channel for his love. He WAS love. He made everyone he ever met feel loved and seen. Thats his legacy. I was fortunate enough to experience this love in close proximity. Ill miss his hugs and kisses and unconditional devotion and advice. Daddy, it is an honor to be your daughter. Your love lives forever.”
