During Donald Trump’s fiery election victory speech, body language experts claim First Lady Melania Trump struggled to display emotion toward her victorious spouse on stage.
The former president won against his fellow Democratic contender, Vice President Kamala Harris, securing the title of president-elect and the 47th commander-in-chief of the United States. Trump took center stage at West Palm Beach’s Palm Beach County Convention Center to extend his gratitude to stalwart supporters for prevailing in what was a neck-and-neck contest and claim his victory.
In the midst of his acknowledgments, he poured praise onto his wife of nearly twenty years, Melania Trump, who accompanied him, acclaiming: “I want to also thank my beautiful wife, Melania,” as he hailed her the nation’s “First Lady.”

Sharing an affectionate moment, Trump turned to Melania, beaming, coaxing her saying, “Come here, honey,” opened his arms wide, and leaned into an earnest hug. The crowd erupted in cheers, witnessing their President-elect and First Lady exchange a kiss onstage.
Despite the public display, observers identified a certain stiffness in the encounter which was a sentiment validated by body language expert Darren Stanton.
On behalf of Slingo, Stanton remarked on the dynamics observed: “When Trump looks back at Melania and gestures to her to come over for a hug, she reluctantly comes forward,” and though she mirrors her husband’s affectionate gesture, “there’s no closeness” he underscored.
“It’s very disjointed and awkward, and there’s no emotion from her, Darren continued, as he claimed: “We don’t see any genuine smiles from Melania, it feels like a smile she has adopted for the occasion.”
The body language expert also noticed: “There’s not the level of emotion you’d expect given her husband has just been elected president.”
“It’s all quite contrived, she’s just reluctant to show any emotion, there’s no real happiness or joy,” he went on to allege based on Melania’s body language.
He added: “There’s always an awkwardness with Melania.”
Despite his wife’s alleged emotional distance, Trump took the time to plug Melania’s biography during his speech, calling it “the number one best-selling book in the country.”
