Staffers at Harris’ Tempe, Arizona campaign office arrived Monday morning to find that someone had fired multiple shots through the front window.
Shots were fired into Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign office in Tempe, Arizona near near Southern Avenue and Priest Drive just after midnight on Monday, according to Tempe Police.
This incident comes just over a week after a second attempt was made on former President Donald Trump’s life.
“No one was inside the office during the overnight hours, but this raises concerns about the safety of those who work in that building, as well as those nearby,” Public Information Officer Sgt. Ryan Cook told the New York Post.
Detectives with the Tempe Police Department are gathering and analyzing evidence to get a clearer picture of how this incident played out and security at the campaign office has been increased, according to police. Workers at the office arrived on Monday morning and discovered the damage caused by the gunfire. Police said the shots were fired through the front windows of the office.

This is the second time this specific office has been the target of criminal damage as earlier this month on Sept. 16 the front windows of the office appeared to be damaged with what looked like a BB or pellet gun, according to police. Neither incident has resulted in any arrests and police are investigating the motives with regards to both incidents.
The issue of presidential candidate security has become an issue as of late after both the July and September assassination attempts against former President Trump. The most recent on Sept. 16 at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida occurred when a gunman was spotted by Secret Service agents hiding in the bushes while the former president was golfing. 58-year-old Ryan Routh was apprehended after fleeing the scene. Agents discovered a semi-automatic rifle in the bushes after Routh fled the scene.

The incident raised questions about the security details surrounding Trump and whether he should be given extra protection. Former presidents are not given the same level of protection as current presidents. Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach sits near many publicly accessible roads.

Trump carried the state in 2016 in his defeat of Hillary Clinton, but Biden flipped the state blue in 2020 winning by less than 11,000 votes which is the smallest margin of victory in the state’s history. Polls have Trump and Harris dead even in the state with just six weeks until Election day.
