Taylor Swift fans called out the singer for “lying” to them.
Taylor earned a record of seven nominations at the 2024 MTV European Music Awards, which aired on Sunday, Nov 10. When her and Post Malone won the award for best video for their Fortnight collaboration, the network played a prerecorded acceptance speech in which she said: “I am coming to you from the Eras Tour, and Im so sad that I cant be with you tonight.”
However, that exact night, Taylor was spotted arriving at Arrowhead Stadium and rooting for her boyfriend, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce. The Chiefs faced the Denver Broncos.

Swifties quickly came together and called out the singer on X, formerly known as Twitter. One person wrote: “Im so sad I cant be with you tonight THIS LIAR.” Another person wrote: “HELP not her acting like she’s busy when she’s really at her man’s game [three loudly crying face emojis] valid.” A third user posted: “Oh Taylor. Pretending like you are not at Travis game.” A fourth wrote: “‘so sad i cant be with you tonight’ while shes having the time of her life at the chiefs game [two loudly crying face emojis].”
The Tortured Poets Department singer won four of the seven categories for which she was recognized. Despite not being on the Eras Tour in that moment, the singer is getting ready to wrap up the over-a-year-long tour. Taylor is set to perform six sold out shows in Toronto’s Rogers Centre starting Thurs. Nov. 14. She is then headed to close out the over year long tour in Vancouver for three sold out nights at BC Place from December 6 to December 8.
During the Eras Tour, the singer set a Ticketmaster record by selling over 2.4 million tickets in a single presale day, the most ever sold by an artist. The 3.5 hour long concert gives fans a chance to experience her albums and songs.
