A Texas police officer was left blinded after responding to a call that a fellow police officer had been gunned down
A police officer from Texas was reportedly left blinded after a gunman shot at her face multiple times during an execution-style killing of another officer.
Dallas police Sr. Cpl. Karissa David, 27, was released on Thursday after her family revealed that she had undergone several months of outpatient care. David was severely injured last month when she was shot by 30-year-old Corey Cobb-Bey while in the parking lot of Oak Cliff Community Campus.
The corporal had been responding to a call after the Cobb-Bey had reportedly gunned down Officer Darron Burks while he sat in his car, according to the Dallas police.

Police said that a dispatcher had sent officers to the community center after they had received an “unusual transmission from Officer Burks’ radio” around 10pm. The first person who arrived on the scene was Sr. Cpl. Jamie Farmer, who reported that he had been met with immediate gunfire. According to Farmer, Cobb-Bey was armed with a 9mm handgun, a .22-caliber handgun and two shotguns.
Farmer returned fire before running across the parking lot in an attempt to subdue Cobb-Bey. Reports indicate that Cobb-Bey grabbed his shotgun and fired at the officer and hitting him in the leg. Cobb-Bey then dashed over to David’s car near the entrance and began shooting as she was stepping out of the vehicle. David reportedly tried to return fire but was shot in the face.
As other responding officers pursued Cobb-Bey, Farmer, David and Burks were all transported to a hospital where Burks was pronounced dead. David was initially listed in stable but critical condition while Farmer had his wounds treated and then released the day.

Cobb-Bey was later killed by officers in Lewisville after getting out of his car and levying a shotgun at officers. He was shot multiple times by officers and was pronounced dead at the scene. Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia later stated that Burks death was a “targeted attack.”
“Our officers were targeted by nothing more than the uniforms that they wear and for the brave and honorable job that they do,” he said. “I want to be clear here, the word ambush has been thrown around in the last 24 hours. That is not what happened here. Officer Burks was executed.”
