Travis Kelce is cutting back on junk food ahead of his 35th birthday.
The Kansas City Chiefs player spoke about his decision while bringing up the box of Neil’s Donuts that he and his brother, Jason Kelce, were sent during Wednesday’s episode of their “New Heights” podcast.
“Good thing they’re over there,” Travis said of the pastries, noting that he loves the sweet treats from LaMar’s Donuts in Kansas City, Mo.
“The yellow boxes are dangerous,” he added.
The tight end explained that he is “at that point in the season” where he just has to “push it away” to make sure he is in tip-top shape to play football.
“Just, I see that golden glazed doughnut just sitting in the yellow box, I’m just like, ‘I don’t need that today, I’ll get it tomorrow,’ knowing that they don’t have boxes of doughnuts every day,” Travis said.
“[I] just lie to myself so that I don’t just grab 10 doughnuts and run around the corner and just stuff my face like a little fat kid,” he continued.
Jason, 36, chimed in, declaring how sad it is for an athlete to realize that they need to start watching their diet.
“It’s a sad day when you’re in your NFL career and you realize you’ve hit that age where you can’t just eat whatever you want anymore,” Jason said.
The retired Philadelphia Eagles player recalled always eating ice cream the evening before games until his second to last season playing the sport.
