Donald Trump has reportedly threatened to jail election officials if he wins the election. Trump posted the inflammatory statement on his Truth Social media platform Friday that he and his lawyers are allegedly watching the upcoming presidential election “very closely.”
“Cease and Desist,” the former president wrote in all caps. “I, together with many Attorneys and Legal Scholars, am watching the Sanctity of the 2024 Presidential Election very closely because I know, better than most, the rampant Cheating and Skullduggery that has taken place by the Democrats in the 2020 Presidential Election.”
“It was a Disgrace to our Nation,” continued the former president. “Therefore, the 2024 Election, where Votes have just started being cast, will be under the closest professional scrutiny and, WHEN I WIN, those people that CHEATED will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law, which will include long term prison sentences so that this Depravity of Justice does not happen again.”
Trump denies being ‘fascist’ saying he is the ‘opposite of Adolf Hitler’ after ex-chief of staff claims
Kamala Harris calls Trump a ‘fascist’ during Town Hall – suggesting ex-president ‘admires Hitler’
“We cannot let our Country further devolve into a Third World Nation, AND WE WONT,” he added. “Please beware that this legal exposure extends to Lawyers, Political Operatives, Donors, Illegal Voters, & Corrupt Election Officials. Those involved in unscrupulous behavior will be sought out, caught, and prosecuted at levels, unfortunately, never seen before in our Country.”
This is not the first time that Trump has vowed to jail and prosecute the so-called election cheaters. Several election officials have stated the aggressive rhetoric espoused by Trump has only escalated the sense of tension as the election draws ever closer.
“It makes me concerned that this will set other people off,” Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes told ABC News in September. “I think the one thing that we’ve seen before is that words have consequences and meaning.”
“And while we are concerned, we are also prepared,” Fontes continued. “Elections officials across the country have been working with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to monitor and track threats, to make sure we’re keeping our voters safe and make sure we’re keeping our elections officials safe.”
The shocking, and very authoritarian-like post, comes a day after Trump had slammed the accusation that he was a fascist. During an interview with Fox News, Trump said that he was the opposite of German dictator Adolf Hitler.
[He] made a statement that Im like Hitler, Trump said referring to a comment made by his former Chief of Staff, John Kelly. Its just couldnt be further from the truth. It’s just the opposite, actually.
According to Trump, the comments made by Kelly were made because he was upset that he had been removed from the position. I fired him. He was a bully. He was a bad guy and he ended up being a weak guy because all bullies end up being weak. And he wasn’t a smart guy. It’s a bad combination,” said Trump.
Trump’s rebuke of the comment comes after his opponent, Kamala Harris told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that she fully believed that the man was a fascist. “Yes, I do.” she reportedly told Cooper when asked.
