Tupac’s Family Hires Jay-Z’s Former Attorney to Investigate Diddy’s Possible Connection to Rapper’s Death.Vuong

Tupac Shakur’s family recently tapped New York attorney Alex Spiro to investigate whether there might be a connection between P Diddy and the death of the late 90s rap star.

The California Love rapper was gunned down at 25 while he was driving in Las Vegas, Nevada, in September 1996. Almost a week after Tupac had been shot, the hip-hop icon succumbed to his fatal injuries, dying on September 13, 1996. Nearly 30 years after the Juice star was murdered, ex-gang leader Duane “Keefe D” Davis was arrested in September 2023. The same month he was arrested Keefe D was charged with one count of murder with a deadly weapon in connection to the shooting. He has pleaded not guilty.

Keefe D previously alleged his trial will start in March 2025 that the Bad Boy Records founder offered him $1 million to hit on Tupac. He made these claims in a 2008 interview with the LAPD. In his statement from 2008, Diddy denied these claims, declaring, “The story is a lie. Neither I nor the late Notorious B.I.G. had any knowledge of any attack on Tupac before, during, or after it happened.”

The accused murderer’s claim about the All About The Benjamins rapper reignited an ongoing rumor in hip-hop culture, which Eminem recently acknowledged in his collaboration with fellow rapper JID. In their joint song Fuel, Eminem raps: “Notorious B.I.G.’s death was the domino effects of Tupac’s murder, like facial tissue, who’s clock should I clean next? Puff’s? ‘Til he’s in police handcuffs, guilty, will he step up?”

Getting Alex on the case appears to show the family’s seriousness about investigating Diddy since the lawyer has represented some big names such as Elon Musk and Diddy’s friend Jay-Z. Diddy has long denied the allegation that he had anything to do with Tupac’s murder. We have reached out to Alex for comment, but have yet to hear back yet. The fallen music mogul said after the Los Angeles Times reported that his associates were responsible for Tupac’s death in 2008 that the published story was a “lie.”

His statement further read: “It is beyond ridiculous and completely false. Neither (the late rapper Notorious B.I.G.) nor I had any knowledge of any attack before, during or after it happened. I am shocked that the Los Angeles Times would be so irresponsible as to publish such a baseless and completely untrue story.” Fan speculation that Diddy was involved with Tupac’s murder arose in the 1990s. Before Tupac was killed, he was in a nasty feud with Diddy’s Bad Boy Records artist Notorious B.I.G.

Former friends Tupac and B.I.G. were at odds so strongly in the mid-90s that it spawned the deadly East Coast-West Coast rap beef. Tupac was killed, and almost a year later the death of B.I.G. in March 1997, who also was killed in a drive-by shooting. This bred many fan conspiracies about the depth of Diddy’s involvement in Tupac’s murder. However, this is unsubstantiated and Diddy has never been formally accused of any involvement.

Diddy allegedly being involved in Tupac’s murder is one of the many allegations that have been slung his way. As of now, Diddy has only been charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution after being arrested in Manhattan, New York, in mid-September.

Diddy has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges against him. Although Diddy’s $50 million bail package he proposed for release was denied twice, he didn’t let his two rejections keep him from trying to get bail again. On Monday, Diddy’s attorneys filed a notice that appealed a federal court’s initial ruling again.
